Level 38: Speed drill: letter pairs
Practise the most common pairs of letters, then use them in words at speed.
- To pass: 95% accuracy and 36 WPM
- Free to use
- Runs in your browser
What you will learn
Most English words are built from a few dozen pairs of letters, such as th, he, in, er and an. The drill at the start of the lesson types them on their own, and the words that follow use them again and again.
Typing a pair as one quick movement is how experienced typists get their speed. Let your fingers learn the pairs, and keep your eyes on the text.
Practise level 38
Tips for this level
- Say the pair in your head as one sound, not two letters.
- Keep the rhythm even between pairs. Speed comes from the evenness.
- If a pair trips you up, repeat it a few times in your head before the next attempt.
