What is QR Code Scanner?

A QR code scanner reads the black and white square pattern printed on posters, bills, menus, parcels and payment stands, and turns it back into the text it holds. Most phones can do this from the camera app, but a laptop or desktop usually cannot. This online scanner fills that gap. You can point a webcam at a code, or upload a screenshot or photo that already contains one. It then shows the decoded content, tells you whether it is a link, WiFi details, a contact card or plain text, and lets you copy it with one click.

How Does It Work?

When you choose an image or start the camera, Vebliy loads a small scanning library into your browser. The library examines the picture pixel by pixel, finds the three large corner squares that mark every QR code, corrects for tilt and perspective, and decodes the pattern into characters. Camera scanning repeats this about ten times a second on the live video. Everything happens on your own device. The image or video is never uploaded, recorded or stored, and the scanner works without an account. Your browser asks permission before it turns the camera on, and you can switch it off at any time.

How to Use It

  1. Open the Upload image tab, then drop a picture onto the box or click it to choose a file.
  2. Or open the Use camera tab, press Start camera, and allow access when your browser asks.
  3. Hold the code steady inside the square until the scan completes. The camera stops by itself.
  4. Read the result and its label, such as Web link, WiFi network or Text.
  5. Press Copy result, or Open link for web addresses after checking they look right.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the camera say access was blocked?

Your browser or device has denied this site permission to use the camera. Click the lock or camera icon beside the address bar, allow the camera, and press Start camera again. If you prefer not to, the Upload image tab works without any permission.

Why is my image not being read?

The code may be blurry, cropped, very small or low in contrast. Try a sharper picture, crop closer to the code so that all four sides and the empty border are visible, and avoid glare or heavy shadows.

Is it safe to open links from a QR code?

A QR code can point anywhere, so treat it like any unknown link. Vebliy shows the full address first and never opens anything automatically. Check the domain before you press Open link, especially for codes stuck over other codes in public places.

Can it scan barcodes on products?

This tool is built for QR codes only. Product barcodes such as EAN and UPC use a different pattern and will not be recognised here.

Are my photos or camera video sent anywhere?

No. The picture and the video feed are processed inside your browser and are never uploaded or saved. When you leave the page, everything is discarded.
